Erasmus+ SDG 4 Youth – London & Belgrade

Erasmus+ SDG 4 Youth: In July and August 2017, Asfar and Serbian partner, Friends of Children of Serbia delivered a youth exchange promoting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to young people in our countries.

The youth exchange facilitated the coordination of two youth exchanges one in Belgrade, Serbia and the other in London, UK, and involved a number of stimulating activities and workshops directed at building an awareness of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, as well as the empowerment its participants by supporting them in developing a skill-set necessary to the implementation of the goals.

These were brought to reflect on burning issues related to human rights, climate change, migration, quality education, international cooperation, and to collaborate with one another by exchanging ideas about how they would practically implement their own social project, and promote social change and justice in their respective countries.

The visit also involved a several educational excursions, such as a visit to London’s famous Natural History Museum, a scavenger hunt, learning about EU Citizenship and the EU, and an inter-cultural evening.

After the UK activity, UK participants traveled to Belgrade, where young people learned more about the SDGs, particular in Serbia and the issues there implementing the goals in the Balkans.

Activities included a visit to the EU Information Center, meeting Belgrade’s Muncipality Youth Team and the Mayor of Belgrade. Participants also developed a group presentation on the SDGs which they gave as part of International Youth Day in Belgrade to promote the Goals to other young people.
