Message on COVID-19 from our CEO.

12th March 2020

Dear all participants on our programmes,

Since January 2019, the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has become a serious health issue that requires individuals, communities, organisations and Governments to adapt and change their working patterns and social behaviours on a daily basis to prevent the virus spreading any further.

Every day, there is some new information on COVID-19, some official, some unofficial and some fake.

It is because of this that Asfar recommends all of our participants and partners to use only official channels for information. As the vast of our programmes are funded by UK funders, Asfar will be using UK funder and UK government information  in relation to our projects and making key decisions.

Two key resources are:

UK National Agency for Erasmus+ & European Solidarity Corps – https://www.erasmusplus.org.uk/news/travel-advice-for-regions-affected-by-coronavirus

UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office – https://www.gov.uk/guidance/travel-advice-novel-coronavirus

Currently, Asfar does not plan to cancel any of our activities as none of the host countries involved in our activities have been identified as countries to avoid such as China, Iran or Italy etc.

However, we make our decisions based on the advice and information provided by these two bodies and this information and advice could change quickly.

Please be reassured to know that if any changes to this decision affects you as a participant, you will be the first person to be contacted by our Project Management team.

As part of our COVID-19 prevention strategy, a guidance pack will be shared with all participants and daily awareness briefings will take place during each day of an activity, as well as access to hand sanitisers and other prevention resources.

If your flight is changed or cancelled, please contact our project manager Emina Hasanagic immediately at resolve@asfar.org.uk.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please get in touch with us.
